Florida's 2014 sales tax holiday began Friday, August 1st and runs through Sunday, August 3rd.

With the new school year approaching, parents and students can save money on their back-to-school shopping this weekend.

The three-day event was approved by the Florida Legislature and signed by the governor earlier this year.

The holiday exempts certain items from sales tax, including clothing and shoes under $100 and certain school supplies that are less than $15 per item.

In addition, computers and certain electronics under $750 are also tax-exempt during the holiday.

The Florida Retail Federation expects a successful weekend for stores throughout the state and a spokesman anticipates there will be many additional sales to draw in consumers.
