Miami-Dade School's superintendent and U.S. Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart were on board American Airlines Flight 3454 when they made an emergency landing Thursday night, according to the school district.
It took off from Tallahassee, when a loud boom was heard and smoke was seen, forcing the flight down in Tampa. 46 passengers were reportedly on board, along with three crew members.
