Miami Mayor Shows No Love For Ultra Music Festival

Miami Mayor Shows No Love For Ultra Music Festival

Not everyone is thrilled the Ultra Music Festival will remain in the City of Miami.

Commissioners voted 4-to-1 Thursday to keep the event at Bayfront Park.

But, Mayor Tomas Regalado tells South Florida's First News says that, while he gets the argument that the festival brings in money, that's not really the point.

"I think that the conversation should have been about quality of life for residents and visitors in Dowtown Miami," said Regalado.

As a condition of Thursday's vote, Ultra organizers agreed to add conditions to the contract that include more security, heightened police presence, and drug counseling stations set up in the area of the festival.

Regalado, though, says the changes are not in writing and there were too many unanswered questions to lead to the "yes" vote commissioners made.
