College football players' unions could soon be a reality.

Players at Nortthwestern University are casting ballots Friday to decide on whether to form a workers union.

The move comes months after the National Labor Relations Board ruled in their favor, saying they're considered employees of the school.

Miami Sports Agent David Willig says the Labor Board did grant an appeal made by the University to review the ruling.

It doesn't stop the vote but essentially puts the results on hold for months.

The NCAA, meanwhile, is endorsing a new 57-page plan that calls for giving some of the biggest football conferences more autonomy on how to fund scholarships, health care, and other issues for the athletes.
