(Tampa, FL) - Governor DeSantis says Florida is prepared for this hurricane season but hopes we get a reprieve, especially the west coast which saw three storms last year.

Speaking in Tampa today, DeSantis made it clear that Florida will take care of itself if we do get hit by another major hurricane.

Governor DeSantis says he assumes FEMA will not be there to handle the core things that people need after a storm.

A recent report found that FEMA is “not ready” for hurricane season after being overhauled by the Trump administration. The former head of FEMA says it should decouple from Homeland Security as the agency was stretched thin handling the migrant situation.

DeSantis vows that the state and local governments will be there to provide for the needs of Floridians.

Meanwhile, President Trump is overhauling FEMA calling it a "disaster."
